Stephanie Halderman had a high risk pregnancy of her own. She was able to have a healthy pregnancy and a natural birth to a 10 lb 3 oz baby. She thanks yoga and acupressure for the preparation and awareness they were able to offer her.

Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Trainings

Teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga is a special gift to women. It provides a nurturing environment to stretch and strengthen, often relieving the common complaints associated with the childbearing year. It teaches women the important arts of relaxation and self reflection, which are especially helpful in the passage to motherhood. An added benefit for many women is that prenatal & postnatal yoga classes are a wonderful place for new friendships to blossom.

A woman goes through many physical, emotional and hormonal changes during the childbearing year. Our trainings address how to work with these changes in a safe and supportive way. You learn how to structure prenatal and postpartum yoga classes, including important poses and contraindications. In the prenatal training, we discuss how to modify poses to safely incorporate a pregnant woman into a regular yoga class. In the postpartum section, we share helpful tools on teaching yoga while babies are present, including how to integrate babies into poses. Our programs delve deeply into the path of pregnancy, the journey of birth, and the challenges that can be associated with postpartum recovery.

Along with yoga, topics include anatomy & physiology, childbearing education, self-help acupressure, aromatherapy, holistic remedies, and nutrition. Western medicine and ancient wisdom are both discussed for a balanced understanding of how to help childbearing women make informed choices.

Prenatal & Postnatal Acupressure & Therapeutic Massage

Prenatal Acupressure and Therapeutic Massage offers pregnant women the opportunity to relax, release stress and tension, connect with their baby, and relieve the uncomfortable symptoms commonly associated with pregnancy. Prenatal bodywork is a natural way to help reduce swelling & fluid retention, muscle cramps, neck, back & hip pain, sciatica, headaches, nausea, high blood pressure, and more. Other benefits include improving circulation, emotional balancing, labor induction, and labor pain relief. (See workshops for Prenatal Partner Yoga & Acupressure for Labor).

Postnatal Acupressure & Therapeutic Massage will help to promote the body's natural ability to heal after childbirth whether recovering from vaginal birth, c-section, or vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Many women experience shoulder, neck, and back tension, stress & fatigue, postpartum depression, difficulty with lactation, pelvic floor weakness, and discomfort due to the type of delivery. Postnatal bodywork will help to lessen and ease these symptoms naturally. Babies are welcome to attend the session if needed.

For fees see Acupressure Therapy or Therapeutic Massage.

Infant & Child Acupressure & Therapeutic Massage

Infants and children benefit greatly through Acupressure & Therapeutic Massage. One of their very first languages is touch. Acupressure and massage is a safe and helpful way to reduce stress, colic & digestive disorders, emotional trauma or upset, colds & flu, sleeping challenges, teething pain, diabetes, dis-ease, and more.

Scheduling a session

Infant & Child Acupressure & Therapeutic Massage sessions usually last ½ hour to one hour depending on the child. Parents will have the opportunity to learn self-help tools when needed at home. Aromatherapy & reflexology can be integrated into the session for added benefit. Children respond wonderfully to the calming and therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy.

Fee: $35 for ½ hour, $65 for 1 hour (add an additional $3-5 for aromatherapy) Gift certificates are available.

In addition to offering sessions for infants and children, Stephanie also offers workshops for parents to learn acupressure & massage techniques to practice on their own. See workshops for Infant & Child Acupressure & Aromatherapy workshop dates.
